SUBJECTS TAUGHT

Language arts:
o Actively use the reading process, read critically, and construct meaning from a variety of texts.
o Demonstrate correct use of the English language in writing and speaking.

o Manage the writing process and use writing for a variety of purposes.

Math:
o Demonstrate a variety of techniques to approach and work on problems.

o Recognize the utility and value of math in everyday life and careers.

Science:
* Discuss, interpret, and use scientific concepts of physical, earth, and life sciences in the real world.

Social Studies:

Bible:
o Know that the Bible is the story of God’s acts and words. It is written so that his people might know God, accept His gifts of salvation, and live lives of joyful service and obedience.
o Know that a commitment to Christ our Savior and Lord will result in a life of love, obedience, and service.
o Know that the Bible is divinely inspired and is the infallible Word of God.
o Immerse themselves in the stories and other writings of the Bible so that they may grow in knowledge, wisdom, sensitivity, and creativity.

Music:
* Perform
o Sing alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
o Perform on instruments, alone, and with others a varied repertoire of music.
* Create
o Improvise melodies, variations, and accompaniments.
o Compose and arrange music with specified guidelines.
* Analyze in Context
o Read and note music

Physical Education:
* Develop and reinforce effective personal and social skills.
* Apply fundamental skills in a variety of sports and leisure time activities both in and out of school.
* Understand the relationship between cognitive concepts and physical health, and physical fitness.

Technology Plan
Educational Support Services are provided through an on site resource specialist and teacher assistants in conjunction Ionia Intermediate School District. The Belding Area School District provides speech, physical and occupational therapy, and social work to our students upon referral. Vision and Hearing screenings are done by Ionia County Health Department.

Bi-Weekly Chapels are specially designed times of prayer, praise and worship for the students and teachers.  Led by a variety of teachers, students & pastors.  Chapel brings the entire building together in worship & praise.  

Curriculum enhancements are arranged to complement specific areas of study at each grade level. These include field trips, fine arts programs, and guest speakers.

Service Projects are scheduled to provide opportunities for students to give of themselves in service to the community.
